Meet our Ministry Consultant,
Pastor Micah LaGrave

Having traveled the path from evangelical Christianity to finding my home here in Unity in June 2018, I embrace the heart of what I understand to be our prophetic message – There is One Power, One Presence, God, Infinite GOODNESS and each being holds a spark of this Divine image, thus we are perfect goodness.

Throughout this journey, I have integrated my trans identity along with my identity as someone with bipolar disorder. For me, these identities have ignited a passion for the intersection between social justice and spirituality.

My purpose is to bring transformational change to the world one person at a time.

I graduated from Bates College with a BA in Sociology. Later I graduated from Andover Newton Theological School with a MDiv. I graduated from Unity Urban Ministerial School (UUMS), one of two Unity seminaries, in June 2024. In addition to this schooling, I have completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) as a Chaplain Intern in 2 community hospitals and the VA.

Having been approved for ordination by Unity Worldwide Ministries (UWM) in March 2024, I became an ordained Unity minister in June 2024.

Throughout my career, I have worked with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as those with mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

My wife, Michelle, a Unitarian Universalist minister, and I live in South Austin with what we affectionately call our Zoo…our cats. I enjoy making abstract art with pastel chalk, doing adult dot-to-dots (Think over 1,000 dots to connect.), crocheting, coloring mandalas, reading sci-fi as well as fiction which challenges me to get out of my comfort zone, and putting together Star Wars Lego sets. I am renewed by the time that I get to spend out in nature.
