Fall by Martha Iglehart, Spirit Writer

...Fall excites me! My energy level goes up!

Aside from cooler temperatures and the relief that brings me, I look forward to the dance Mother Nature does in the Fall. Fall is Divine Order on display. All over the world,

we become united as spectators with front row seats (when we pause and take time to watch) to see one of the most dazzling shows on earth. First, nature’s color palette gradually shifts, going from vibrant greens to lighter shades of green, some yellow and red pops in, orange shows up to participate, and eventually tan and brown show up right before the last act… when nudity makes its appearance. Mother Nature lets her clothes gently fall to the ground to pile up and cushion the earth, or to get carried off to another location, or left alone for her growth and nourishment.

Fall reminds me of high school football games. An event that brought my

hometown together. It’s the time of year when major festivals are held,

bringing lots of people together and creating joyous moments. Fall to me is synonymous with exhilaration. The days get shorter, which I love because I settle down more quickly in the evenings, and I rest more deeply. It is release and restoration time for me.

I’m able to let go of the anxiety of the dreaded heat and mosquitoes, not to mention the high energy bills. I let go of the anxiety I get when trying to find comfortable clothing to wear … something not scratchy that covers me up from the hot, beaming sun, yet doesn’t smother me and cause a heat stroke. Fall also means I no longer need to mow the grass as often, something I don’t mind doing because of the instant gratification, but doing yardwork puts me in that dreaded, unfriendly environment…mosquitoes and heat.

On a deeper level, I’m reminded that this time of the year (because my soul tends to relax and breathe more easily), I can release and practice my power of renunciation. I can let go of things that don’t serve me, mainly my anxiety. I have the time and desire to create space for my spiritual growth, to expand my internal world. I eagerly and joyfully get out more and take in things that bring new life to me now that I’m no longer dodging the heat. And because the shorter daylight helps me settle down more quickly, I have the time to snuggle up with a good book in the evenings. Fall brings me more time with friends and family, too. The holidays make that happen.

I do not doubt that when GOD created the Fall season, it was made in the interest of both our physical and our spiritual worlds.
