Harmony by Paula Pulaski, Spirit Writer
In terms of spiritual practice, I see harmony as a balancing of high notes and low ones. Bringing richer, fuller, more expansive sounds and sensations to my life is

a rewarding gift. When playing in an orchestra as a second violin, my part was tomainly play harmony with notes and phrases that embellished that listening to the
melody of the first violins. This counterpoint of instruments builds rising and descending sounds to the music, and the listening is more attentive. I feel drawn to the power of music that reaches deep into my soul and stirs up energy and makes my body tap, vibrate, or even dance. Each Sunday I experience the joy and divine life force when music fills the chapel space of Unity Church. All the voices singing together creates a harmony, and we feel more united and whole.
Harmony can be seen in other places as well. Many situations in daily life require listening and cooperating with each other. For instance, when driving, you can observe or be the driver who allows another driver to merge in front of your car. This action builds harmony and cooperation for all drivers to witness this act of kindness. In book club meetings, there is a harmony when each person is allowed to speak about the book without interruption. These thoughts may converge or diverge with previous ones, but this shows how cooperation brings harmony to the group. It expands the conversation to hear many points of view, and harmony builds slowly but also feels more spontaneous, tolerant, and encompasses everyone.
Last evening at Sound Bath there was much harmony from the sweet vibrations and sounds of the white crystal bowls that were arranged from small to large on the chapel altar area. I felt warm sensations that eased my body’s tension as the sprinkling sound of raindrops or sand shaking onto a surface were released. I had an alertness and attention as Martha guided us through the seven chakras with awareness of the wholeness of the body. This experience within a sacred place brought me, and others present, much peace and release. Harmony of these new sounds filled the space with energy that felt healing.
Thinking back to the Tuscany trip, I recall the ringing of church bells that occurred each hour of the day. Being in the town square, in close proximity to these church towers, reminds one that divinity is present and always within reach
Taking time and noticing the harmony of life is available to all.
